About

My name is Diana, I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, but recently moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where my ceramic practice is located. I make ceramic sculptures and clay animations that are often centered around questions and storylines that I became interested in when studying Philosophy as an undergraduate. I wrote my Bachelor thesis on free will, and a lot of my work stems from ideas of what control is and what it means. As a student, I quickly found that these questions often just lead to further questions, and as an artist, I like to use humor to deal with my existential dread.

These ideas are often expressed through figurative animals. The main reason for animals being reoccurring motifs is because I've always been drawn to the lives and consciousness of non-human animals, and have always felt a deep connection to the companion creatures in my own life. I have been a philosophical vegan for 5 years, and even though I use a lot of humor in my work, I try my best to portray my subjects with the respect and love I feel for them.

Another important thing that I put emphasis on in my work, is the importance of community. I love working with other people, and often collaborate on functional pieces with my friends from Animal House Pottery

My goal is to make art for people who want art-mementos and pieces that bring them joy in their everyday life. Pieces that can be a humorous and smile-inducing vent space, yet at the same time have a hopeful take on a more community-centered future.
